72 Days

I can't believe I have not lived "normally" for 72 days. SEVENTY-TWO DAYS! That's over 10 weeks... That's a month longer than I was down with my last pregnancy. I'm so ready to go to the store! That's all I have to say today.

I'm Jen. I am pregnant with Baby #4 and was put on bed rest at 24 weeks. Having experienced 3 weeks and 6 weeks of bed rest with prior pregnancies, I know that it can be challenging and depressing. When I realized that I could be looking at 13 weeks with this one, I knew I had to do something different this time to keep my spirits UP! I began reading uplifting quotes, lots of positive self talk, and looking for the humor in each day. I now have 5 weeks down and 8 to go, and I decided to make a blog in hopes that other bed rest moms may find it and maybe get some humor or hope out of it. Happy reading!

To Occupy Your Time

A running list of ideas I have for moms on bed rest. Things I've been doing to occupy my time...

-organize pictures

-make online photo books

-have daily reading time with your kids

-Words with Friends

-Draw Something & other online games with friends

-index for familysearch.org

-family history

-Netflix

-embroider/crafty things

-read books

-read positive online articles & talks

-fold laundry (yay!)

-make a blog

-let friends come visit you!!! (SO uplifting... last time I was too self conscious about how bad I looked, but this time I have tried to ignore that and let people come. I always feel so much better after a good girl's talk!)

-keep doing normal things like budgeting, meal planning, etc.- as many of those things as you can

-if you have the $, allow yourself to do a little online shopping (don't get carried away, but it's fun to get an at home delivery once in a while!)

-write thank you notes to all the people who help you

Bed Rest Essentials

My hubby suggested I make a list of things that are really helpful to have around when you're on bed rest...

-a garbage can right by your bed

-an extra desk or night stand type thing to hold books, crafts, tissues, etc

-some kind of a speaker (we have a two-way intercom set up between my room and the kitchen so I can bark out orders to the kids! At first I wanted a mega-phone, but I figured that might be a little too brutal.)

-a Snoogle pillow or some kind of awesome pillow to prop yourself up on

-a recliner or some other spot in the house set up where you can go for a change of scenery

-hmmm... more to come as I think of it...
